Tasty Indian Bistro

Inder Saini founded Tasty Indian Bistro in 2011 in homage to his father’s culinary legacy. In 2018, they opened their second location Yaletown with the help of Evolve Mechanical Solutions. We designed their unique Mechanical, Plumbing and Hood Fire Suppression system. 

The project presented a challenge, as a restaurant had previously existed in the space with a deficient system, including an undersized kitchen exhaust duct (grease duct). We had to be very creative. 

Removal of the existing kitchen exhaust duct and increasing its size wasn’t possible, as it ran up multiple floors with existing tenants beside the duct. Instead, we increased the volume of the hood such that it would have a larger “dam” to hold back the surge of cooking vapours. This allowed us to not disturb Tasty Indian Bistro’s neighbours in the building, as well as reuse the kitchen exhaust duct in order to save our client money and time.
